RELAX ZONE At Windflower Spa and Resort

WINDFLOWER SPA ANDRESORT

COORG

There is a serenity about thisresort and spa which one isloath to disturb. So, we findourselves instinctivelyspeaking in hushed tones as we areushered into the Windflower Spaand Resort in Coorg. The enormousmarble-floored spa is located in theheart of the Coorg valley, surrounded by coffee and spiceplantations, and its open spaces andpathways are punctuated withaesthetically landscaped patches. An enormous Buddha – a fixture inmost Indian spas is the focal pointin the lobby while the statue of aBalinese goddess looks onbenignly from a corner. This spa isabout world-class pampering. At22,000 sq.ft, it is one of India’slargest and South India’s biggest. It encompasses 11 rooms with topclass facilities, including Ayurvedictreatment rooms, hydrotherapyspaces, an open-air pedicure deckoverlooking a scenic valley, and ishedged in by bamboo thickets. Alarge lobby, saunas, beauty rooms, and a spa-menu restaurantcomplete the set-up. The spa willsoon launch medispa facilitiessuch as micro-dermabrasion andoxygen facials. And the spa isgreen too, with eco-friendlyfeatures and offers a range ofrejuvenation, ayurvedic detox, beauty and weight managementpackages, ranging from three to 21days. I am recommended theShirodhara. The two femalemasseurs massage and stretch mymuscles gently, and relief surgesthrough the body. Just when Ithink it can’t get better, the gentlyswaying, rhythmic oil-flow on myforehead leaves me drowsy. It isfollowed by the mandatory steambath. Returning to the room aftershaking off the urge to fall asleeptakes some effort.

Windflower exudes a quietelegance. The boundaries betweenthe outdoors and indoors blur inthis resort-spa that achieves athematic connect and convergencewith the lush greenery around. The resort and spa are swanky andclassy, nothing is overdone orin-your-face. The approach road tothe resort, however, is verybumpy; so, drive slowly. How to get there
