RELAX ZONE At Windflower Spa and Resort
WINDFLOWER SPA ANDRESORT
COORG
There is a serenity about thisresort and spa which one isloath to disturb. So, we findourselves instinctivelyspeaking in hushed tones as we areushered into the Windflower Spaand Resort in Coorg. The enormousmarble-floored spa is located in theheart of the Coorg valley, surrounded by coffee and spiceplantations, and its open spaces andpathways are punctuated withaesthetically landscaped patches. An enormous Buddha – a fixture inmost Indian spas is the focal pointin the lobby while the statue of aBalinese goddess looks onbenignly from a corner. This spa isabout world-class pampering. At22,000 sq.ft, it is one of India’slargest and South India’s biggest. It encompasses 11 rooms with topclass facilities, including Ayurvedictreatment rooms, hydrotherapyspaces, an open-air pedicure deckoverlooking a scenic valley, and ishedged in by bamboo thickets. Alarge lobby, saunas, beauty rooms, and a spa-menu restaurantcomplete the set-up. The spa willsoon launch medispa facilitiessuch as micro-dermabrasion andoxygen facials. And the spa isgreen too, with eco-friendlyfeatures and offers a range ofrejuvenation, ayurvedic detox, beauty and weight managementpackages, ranging from three to 21days. I am recommended theShirodhara. The two femalemasseurs massage and stretch mymuscles gently, and relief surgesthrough the body. Just when Ithink it can’t get better, the gentlyswaying, rhythmic oil-flow on myforehead leaves me drowsy. It isfollowed by the mandatory steambath. Returning to the room aftershaking off the urge to fall asleeptakes some effort.
Windflower exudes a quietelegance. The boundaries betweenthe outdoors and indoors blur inthis resort-spa that achieves athematic connect and convergencewith the lush greenery around. The resort and spa are swanky andclassy, nothing is overdone orin-your-face. The approach road tothe resort, however, is verybumpy; so, drive slowly. How to get there
Windflower is approximately250 km from Bangalore. Take adeviation at Srirangapatna, thendrive to Hunsur, Periyapatna, Bylakuppe,Kushalnagar and Suntikoppa.Continue on theSuntikoppa-Mercara Road, and atthe third km junction, take a left toenter the two-km-long privatepathway to the resort.

Shahid Kapur on Dil Bole Haddipa and playing cricket with Rani
Cricket buff Shahid Kapur
Following the success of “Kaminey”, Shahid tries to scale newer peaks with “Dil Bole Haddipa”. Excerpts from an interview with the actor.
Finally, you have been initiated into Yash Raj Films with “Dil Bole Hadippa”. How did it happen?
I got a call from Yash Raj one day. They wanted me to play a role in a film opposite Rani Mukherjee. I was introduced to the director and the writer. I love playing cricket and they offered me the role of a cricketer. I thought it would be a good film in my career. Also, I had not worked with Rani earlier.
How well do you play cricket in real life?
I’m a big cricket buff. I have been playing cricket ever since I was three. I played for my school; I would open the innings for them sometimes. I played cricket in college too.
You and Rani have come together 10 years after the Pepsi ad.
(Laughs out loud) I would tease Rani that I was her fan; I did an ad with her. It was also one of her earliest ads.
How was it playing cricket with Rani?
Before shooting began for the film, Rani had been practising cricket for five-six months. She was nervous that I may not know how to play cricket though I had claimed otherwise. She called me one day and insisted I leave everything I was doing and come to Juhu, immediately. I reached Juhu, and saw Rani in cricket gear. She smiled and showed me her cricketing prowess. She was playing really well. She asked me also to play. I did, and she was convinced I knew the game. She told me, ‘Ab tu jaa’ (Now you can go).

The Hindu :
Choose your necklines carefully
Photo: AFPFLATTER YOUR NECK With the right necklines
One of the most common problems women face while getting tops and blouses stitched, picking the right sweater or when shopping for a dress that flatters one’s body is choosing the perfect neckline. Some of us like to play safe and stick to theusual round necks and V necks. However, it is about time we experimented with necklines but cautiously.
One of the things a woman must keep in mind while choosing the right neckline is the shape of her face. Those with triangular and heart-shaped faces should go in for boat necks and tight crewnecks also known as jewel necks. If you have an oval-shaped face or a narrow face with a long chin or a high forehead, you could consider turtlenecks and crewnecks that sneak up the neck. For those who have a round face, there are quite a few options. Square necks and V necks are for you. Also you could go in for U neck tops that are not very broad.Factors that work
Face shape is not the only factor to be considered while choosing the neckline. The structure of the upper half of your body is also a vital determinant. Those with broad shoulders should avoid round necks. V necks of varied lengths are a good choice as they draw the attention away from the shoulders and heavy arms. They also make short necks appear longer.
Plunging necklines must be avoided by those with an extremely lean frame. Boat necks and turtlenecks must not be worn by those who have short or broad necks.
Necklines must also be chosen depending on what garment is teamed with it. For instance, while V necks are best suited for blouses that go with skirts, boat necks go well with a pair of jeans. Don’t forget to decide your neckline according to…More

Enjoy succulent kebabs and Awadhi preparations at The Kebabs and Kurries
Unique flavours Fresh and tender meat makes all the difference
The Kebabs and Kurries restaurant at the new ITC Gardenia hotel complex resembles a royal kitchen of yore, with pillars and a massive sculpture of the sun at the entrance.
The lighting is fairly dim, and manages to relax one a great deal. The kitchen is located near the restaurant area and one can see the chefs whipping up many a dish. We start the meal with portions of the chatpate tandoori aloo and burrah kebabs. The aloo preparationprovided a tangy aftertaste, reminding one of chaat preparations in north India. The burrah kebab is a bit on the oily side but is tender and tastes good. As the chef points out, “It is very necessary to use the portion of the meat near the bone, since it is tender.”
After rather liberal offerings of the tangy aloo and the kebabs, we sample the main course.Host of spices
We try the kohe Awadh, the Awadhi equivalent of the famous rogan ghosht preparation from Kashmir. The mutton is fairly tender and fresh and the spices in the gravy stand out and provide a distinct taste and flavouring to the preparation. The sabz do piaza comprising paneer and a host of spices, mixed in thick spinach gravy is also a great combination with the naan-e-bakumaach, supposed to be one of Mughal emperor Aurangazeb’s personal favourites. The naan is prepared from wheat, and comprises tiny jeera pieces. Though it resembles dry half-baked bread, it tastes great with the kohe awadh and sabz do piaza combination. We also try out the butter rotis, which are fresh and go well with the accompaniments. We finish the meal with pieces of warm gulab jamun that would help one sign of a great meal in style. The service was fairly quick and…More
